This webinar was one of five one-hour webinars that were offered at no cost to physicians by the MGH Psychiatry Academy. This webinar will review the epidemiology, evaluation, and treatment of opioid addicted patients from a primary care perspective. This activity, eligible for Category 2 CME credit, was designed to meet the criteria for risk management study in Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine (BRM) CME requirements for effective pain management and end-of-life care.
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Review the diagnostic criteria and the behavioral-neurological adaptation process associated with opioid addiction.
- Discuss the socio-economic and health impacts of the opioid epidemic.
- Identify the three major treatment paradigms for opioid addiction.
