Prairie, Ellen, PhD

Associate Director, Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program, Massachusetts General Hospital
Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School


Dr. Ellen Prairie is the Associate Director of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and is an Assistant Professor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School.  She completed her doctoral degree at University of Massachusetts Amherst and her training at MGH.  Dr. Prairie has had a broad range of training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic psychotherapy, and she is intensively trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).  As a senior member of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Team at MGH, she provides individual psychotherapy, supervision to staff and trainees, and leads DBT skills training groups.  Dr. Prairie is also a member of the Primary Care Psychiatry Team and provides consultations for patients through Rapid Access Psychiatry.  Her expertise in formulating treatment recommendations for challenging cases is central to each of her roles at MGH.  She also has a private practice in Cambridge.
