Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Dermatology
A full-service dermatological center that delivers state-of-the-art care
to patients with rare and common conditions of the skin, hair and nails.
About us
Since the 1800s, we have led the way in developing new treatments for skin conditions, including:
- Psoralen plus ultraviolet light (PUVA) therapy for psoriasis
- Tunable dye/laser treatment of vascular birthmarks
- Q-stitch ruby laser treatment of pigmentation and tattoos
- The theory behind fat reduction by controlled cooling
- We also opened the first multidisciplinary center for patients with cutaneous melanoma in 1966.
In the 21st century, we continue to break new ground. The Clinical Unit for Research Trials in Skin helps patients who have not responded to traditional treatments and develops novel therapies, diagnostics, clinical procedures and medications. Our Cutaneous Biology Research Center works on discovering fundamental principles and genetics that contribute to maintaining healthy skin and treating disease.
Meet our Doctors
Our department’s board-certified physicians have one overarching goal: helping patients enjoy their everyday activities while minimizing or eliminating their symptoms.

The Psychiatry Academy is proud to facilitate a NEW virtual dermatological conference.

We will cover hot topics such as updates in skin cancer, eczema and psoriasis, pediatric dermatology, contact allergies, urgent and emergent dermatologic conditions, hair disorders, cosmetics, and telemedicine.
